WELCOME TO SOMATIC MASSAGE & BODYWORK WHERE EVERY SESSION IS A CONVERSATION WITH YOUR BODY. GUIDED BY INTUITION, GROUNDED IN SCIENCE, AND CENTERED ON YOU.
About this Work
Somatic Massage & Bodywork is grounded in the understanding that tension, pain, and stress are forms of communication from the body. Sessions are trauma informed, responsive, and paced to support regulation rather than forcing change.
The work blends therapeutic massage with somatic principles to help the body release long standing holding patterns safely and gradually.
Support your body's natural regulation
Consistent bodywork helps reduce chronic tension and restore nervous system balance.

- Release muscular holding patterns
- Support nervous system regulation
- Reduce stress and physical overload
- Improve mobility and body awareness
Services
INTEGRATIVE SOMATIC MASSAGE
A slower session focused on nervous system down regulation and deeper fascial release, helping address chronic holding patterns.
CUSTOM RESTORE & BALANCE
A customizable therapeutic massage session focused on relieving muscular tension, improving circulation, and supporting physical recovery.
Outdoor Massage & Retreat Collaborations
A trauma informed outdoor somatic massage experience that supports nervous system regulation through therapeutic bodywork in a natural setting. Sessions are offered individually and within retreat environments alongside other facilitators, including select collaborations with NC Retreats, and are paced according to your body's needs.
How does massage affect the nervous system?
Therapeutic touch activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the branch responsible for rest, repair, and digestion. When safe, intentional touch is introduced, the body shifts out of survival mode and into regulation.
Massage has been shown to lower cortisol, support vagal tone, and increase calming neurochemicals like serotonin and dopamine. Muscles soften not just because they are pressed, but because the nervous system receives a signal that it is safe to release.
Somatic massage works with this process intentionally. Rather than forcing tissue change, it invites the nervous system to downshift so the body can reorganize tension patterns naturally.
Why does stress show up as physical tension?
The body does not separate emotional stress from physical stress. When the nervous system perceives threat from workload, trauma, overwhelm, or chronic pressure, it prepares the body to protect itself.
This can show up as tightened jaw, elevated shoulders, shallow breathing, braced hips, and restricted fascia. If the stress cycle is never completed, these protective patterns become habitual. What started as survival becomes chronic holding.
Somatic bodywork helps the body finish incomplete stress responses. Through slow pacing and attuned touch, the system learns it no longer needs to hold the same level of defense. Tension is not failure. It is adaptation.
What does trauma informed care mean?
Trauma informed care recognizes that every body has a history. The nervous system remembers patterns of safety and threat, even when we don’t consciously recall events.
Sessions prioritize consent, pacing, communication, and respect for boundaries. You remain in control at all times.
There is no pressure to explain your past. The focus is creating safety in the present moment, where healing can happen naturally.
Is this approach evidence informed?
Yes. Somatic and therapeutic massage practices draw from research in neuroscience, fascia science, polyvagal theory, and psychophysiology. Studies continue to show that regulated touch can influence stress response, pain perception, immune function, and emotional regulation.
While somatic work is experiential and individualized, it is grounded in growing scientific understanding of how the nervous system shapes health.
This approach does not replace medical care. It complements it by supporting the body’s natural regulatory systems, the foundation upon which healing occurs.
Supportive, Not Corrective Care
Somatic Massage & Bodywork is grounded in the understanding that pain and tension are not signs that something is broken. They are communication.
You do not need a clear goal or perfect language before beginning. Sessions are paced, collaborative, and designed to support your body's existing capacity for regulation and change.
